Hey TBC’ers! Have you ever wanted to extract pole and sign feature inclination attributes? For instance, you have scanned a signpost that is slanted and want to determine if its inclination exceeds a specified threshold and may require repairs. The Extract Point Feature command was enhanced in TBC v5.60 to extract inclination and inclination direction attributes for pole and sign features.
Follow the steps below to learn how to extract sign inclination attributes.
- In the Point Clouds tab, select Extract Point Feature to display the Extract Point Feature command pane.
- In the Extraction type drop-down list, select Sign.
- With your cursor in the Pick a point field, select a scan point on the sign in the graphic view. A visual extraction indicator displays on the sign, verifying your selection.
- A feature definition file was previously added to this project (Project Settings > Feature Code Processing > Feature definition file > Browse). In the Feature code field, type in “SP” which is the code for SignPost. Optionally, you can click on the Browse (...) button to the right to display the Feature Code Editor window and scroll to find "SP", then click Add Code > OK.
Note: A yellow circle icon appears since required feature attribute values have not yet been supplied.
- Map each feature code attribute (left column) to each of the extraction attributes (right column): Diameter –> Sign diameter, Height –> Sign height, Inclination –> Sign inclination, Inclination direction –> Sign inclination dir.
- Click the Extract Sign Attributes button.
- A magenta visual selection indicator is displayed on the sign. In addition to the diameter and height, the inclination and inclination direction are listed.
- Click Add to create the new sign feature point at the base of the extracted sign object. The associated feature icon is displayed in the graphic views.
