TBC 5.30 - Invalid visualisation of CF Map for Projected Surfaces

  • 1.  TBC 5.30 - Invalid visualisation of CF Map for Projected Surfaces

    Posted 06-01-2020 15:56

    Hello,

I have run into some dramas with CF Maps for Projected Surfaces.

I have seen that exercise as tutorial. I have also managed to do do it myself on the previous version of TBC (5.21).

CF Map created between two Projected surfaces shows correct:

    • daylight line
    • cut/fill values
    • volumes

It displays completely incorrect visualisation (shading) of the cut fill map.

Does anyone know why it might be?

    1) Scanned wall

    2) Sampled @ 10mm grid

    3) Projected Surface created using Sampled Point Cloud

    4) Cut Fill Map created using Two Projected Surfaces: One from Point Cloud and Second one as just a random plane (both projected onto same Plane).

    5) Properties of the CF Map

    6) CF Map itself

The Cut Fill Map Labels are wrong - this has been reported to the Geospatial team on several occasions - We have a TML that computes the shortest distance perpendicular to the surface for normal surfaces that does generate a Report and Vector lines that are showing the values that you want to see - I will post a video of that in the morning. It will be released in a couple of weeks time

    Hi Alan,

On the example above Cut Fill Map Labels are correct.

    Projected CF Map is incorrect.

Thank you for the step-by-steps, Marian.  Are you able to share the data set with us so that we can investigate and resolve?

    Thanks Joe,

That's the structure of my data:

    • 2 projected surfaces
    • 1 CF Map

How to share data on that forum? I cant find a way to attach a VCL file.

My organisation does not allow me to share OneDrive links. Can I sent you an email?

    Regards,

We're looking into this as well. I'll let you know what we find.

    Thanks Ross,

    Data is on your OneDrive.

I have managed to recreate the same issues in brand new project using both scan data and hand drafted polylines.

    Cheers,

It looks like Joe Blecha has this one now , so I am closing it out

This set of tools was created by the Geospatial Team, so they are the ones that need to address the issues encountered - they are aware of the issues now, and will hopefully address in due course.

    Hi all,

The fix for this bug was completed for v5.21, but is a bit out of the way to find...

In TBC's Options > Display, check on the 'Use double precision patches'

TBC... the gift that keeps on giving!

Thank you @Joseph Blecha @Alan Sharp @Ross McAtamney for looking into that.

Enabling double-precision patches helped. CFMap has correct colours, shape and orientation now. But it's centre of gravity is in the wrong spot.

I have used the project "CFMap on Projected Surface – Doesn’t Work" provided to Ross from UPG in Australia.

I have enabled the the double-precision and changed shading of the CFMap to black-yellow for the elevations in the +0.005 to -0.005m range. For some reason it seems shifted from where it should be along the normal vector to the reference plane.
