    hello everyone

please, can I nDSM generation from lidar (point cloud) without georeferencing?

    thanks

    Hello,

    Yes, I think so:

    (1) load the point cloud into Trimble eCognition software

    (2) convert point cloud into raster layer (using lowest points)

    (3) classify Trees and Buildings (elevated objects) in the raster file

    (4) interpolate the elevation inside the elevated object boundaries (creates a DTM layer)

    (5) convert point cloud into raster layer (using highest points, creates a DSM layer)

    (6) subtract the DTM from the DSM layer to generate the nDSM (using the layer arithmetics rule)

    (7) export the nDSM raster layer

But, if your input data has no coordinate information, the output would have no georeference information. The workflow above is independent if your data is georeferenced or not.

    Regards,

    Christian

eCognition tv - YouTube offer several channels and one of them (eCognition Deconstructed) is a monthly video series that features a specific algorithm - In 10 to 15 minutes, we breakdown the functionality and provide theoretical explanations and real-world. The first link refers to the "rasterize point cloud" algorithm.

The YouTube channel offers also access to eCognition webinars. We have 3 different categories of webinars.
