In Tekla Structures 2017i and 2019i when using the Trimble Connector there was an option to pick a custom basepoint for the uploaded models.
Now in Tekla Structures 2021 it does not allow that option and will automatically choose the Project Basepoint. If the Project Basepoint wasn't set, it then automatically chooses the Model Origin Point.
This basically makes Trimble Connect useless. Now NO MODELS WILL ALIGN and ALL OBJECTS WILL HAVE DIFFERENT LOCATION DATA embedded in them, as no one uses the same Project Basepoint or Origin Point.
It's absolute nonsense to take out this option. When creating newer versions, you should add features, not remove them. Especially when this creates problems with other trades and clients, that want you to use their custom origin point. Now you have to go back to creating .ifc exports the old way, rendering one of the most important features in Trimble Connect completely useless.
This exact same post was already addressed almost 2 years ago (see link: https://community.trimble.com/communities/community-home/digestviewer/viewthread?GroupId=607&MID=28614&CommunityKey=48f38a6e-5abb-4ba1-8880-972ff53882ff&tab=digestviewer ) and yet there was no response. How can Trimble ignore this issue? How come nothing has been done about this? This is outrageous.
In short - ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. Bring back the "set Basepoint" option to Trimble Connector, so we can choose whichever Basepoint we like, not the Project Basepoint or Model Origin.
