My installation of TBC 5.3 is missing the option to use the "Light" interface in Options.

    Has it been moved?

They took away Traditional and the Light is the only option now - so they took it off the Options Dialog as a result. A couple of people have commented to me on the Traditional Going away - I think the reason why it has been taken away is that the Icons designed for Traditional are older and have not been updated for High Resolution Screens and as a result look grainy on High Resolution - so they elected to take it away and work just with the Light Theme going forwards.

Alan: I have found the opposite on the “light” version. I have 4K monitors and the new icons look terrible. That’s why I reverted to “Traditional”. In fact TBC on 4K is brutal. I am aware that programmers will say it’s a “Windows Problem with scaling” but I run a lot of high end software for video and photography that have zero scaling issues on 4K.

Will TBC ever get the ability to customize the interface beyond “light”? I personally really dislike light interfaces (again, the reason I continued to use the “Traditional” version).

I guess my final issue is having to reset TBC menus and customizations EVERY time we get an update. Unbelievable. Truly.

I’ll stop my rant there. Thanks for the reply.

I run 2x 4K monitors and a Laptop with a 4K monitor and the Icons of the

Light Scheme are Clear and Sharp  on all 3 Monitors. ( run the software

with the scaling for displays based off my Laptop Screen, and also with the

    Options set as follows

Support - Options - Use Large Icons on Quick Access Toolbar set to ON

Customize Toolbars - Options - Set Use Large Icons on Toolbars set to ON.

I set my Display settings on my Laptop Monitor to 200% and 150% on the 2 x

    4K Monitor

This is what I see on my 4K Big Monitor

This is what I get on my Laptop Monitor

I find it all usable when I set it up this way.

I dont disagree on the having to reinstate Custom Setups after each update

    - that is a royal pain (I do updates every day (in development builds) and

yes it takes me a couple of minutes to Add my Custom Menu, Reinstate my

Options and reset my Toolbars etc and also copying over my Templates. I

have all my Custom stuff (Options.bin) and Menu Layouts in a folder on my C

Drive and it is not that time consuming - just annoying to do it each

    release - I get that.

The Light and Dark we will provide a tool to control that for you soon from

    RPS at least.

Alan: Looking forward to the "Dark" option...

I too use the Options.bin and save it to a cloud drive so that it is available from various locations for each of my computers. Perhaps I am doing something incorrectly though. If I use my saved options and ribbon files the new icons and features do not show up in the command lists if I want to add a new feature to a ribbon.

Example: when the vertical design tools came out I wanted to add the create and edit icons to a ribbon. I could add the text part but there were no icons with them in the list. Once added to the ribbon tab they just appeared as text (I tried all the options for size etc). It wasn't until I reset all my ribbons etc to default and re-did them that these icons showed up.

Is there a way with a new update to have all new commands with icons avaiulable to add to an existing customized layout?

    Regards,

We are looking into this issue at RPS to see if we can solve it - When TBC

reads a menu configuration from an earlier version than current it loses

icons for newer commands unfortunately- this means that you have to start

from scratch and build your menu each time TBC is updated - understand that

this takes time - when I build a new menu for each release it takes ~10

hours in total and I am trying to get a tool written that solves that

problem for myself as I don't have 10 hours 3x per year (and when I look at

how many people are doing this every year that is a lot of unproductive

time - which is why I guess people live without icons for a release or two

before reinvesting time to update. That time has to have a value and

combined with darkening the menus and managing Options, Templates,

Libraries etc at each update I feel that a management tool is in order to

assist people that want it and can value the time savings through tool

    investment.

I will do what I can do somve this in the next 30 to 60 days - I am

steadily building up a 5.3 menu and should release that next week - finding

an hour here or there to get it done (just in time for 5.31 or 5.4)
