I understand that this has gone through to Trimble Support via UPG so I won't muddy the waters by guessing.

I believe this was tried and didn't work - but does that mean the device can't make calls at all, or that we can't make calls due to the absence of 3G?
Given that we were notified by Telstra about the issue, specific to the device, I suspect that our three units will become expensive equipment of limited use in about two months.

Have you tried inserting a voice-capable SIM then making a voice call? I can't try this because the NZ cellular networks have not turned 3G off yet!
Most Trimble devices (TDC6, T7, TSC7, etc.) are non-voice and non-voice devices are not required to have emergency calling.

Can anyone confirm that our TDC650 units will no longer be able to access the internet in Australia once our current data recharge period expires? The 3G network has just been closed, and although the units are technically still able to operate (on 4G/LTE), and are currently working, my interpretation of the situation is that ISPs will eventually block access because the devices can't make emergency calls (no VoLTE capability). We can't be the only people in Australia using these or similar devices! I will follow-up with our Trimble reseller, but my initial query about it seemed to come as a complete surprise.
