There's probably a lot more detail required here for e.g. like the software you are using and versions, the GNSS firmware on the R6, the data formats and versions you are using to process.

Thanks so much for your reply and the link to the map. I poked around on it and didn't see any site that seemed familiar but I will continue to try.
I don't need to reprocess the data. I only need to determine where the base station was located.
Regarding the file structure. I retired and only have copies of the folders containing the .ssf files. The computer and software are long gone.
My personal computer is a mac. I opened the files with a text editor but the only readable text are the numbers on the base station ID.
I'll keep poking around the map for now.
Much appreciated. Deb

Hi Deb,
I'm guessing you want to reprocess that SSF file using the same Base station? Determining the physical (Lat/Long) of a base station will take a little sleuthing if the directory from 2004 was retained, and maybe a little guessing using the current NGS CORS map.
Forensics:
The /BASE directory PFO made years ago should contain folders, by a short name of the station.
If you have the *.ssf file, then the location of that file should be sitting in a directory structure like this:
/BASE
/EXPORT
/BACKUP
Inside a folder

If that code is not all that helpful, hopefully that code in parenthesis can be found on this map. Whats nice it does contain decommissioned CORS stations, which, back in 2004 were probably / possibly the station you would have used to differentially correct that SSF file into a CORS. NGS Map (arcgis.com) Here is a quick search for lassen NPS park, exposing a CORS CHO2. NGS never throws away files, some of us in NPS still have PFO. Drop me a Text or email Deb!

I am looking for help in identifying the location of a Trimble base station in the United States that I used for post processing data collected with a Geo Explorer II back in 2004.
I have the base station files (dot-ssf) but can no longer open them. I used a text editor and I can read the station ID but that's the only useful information I have from the file.
I was collecting data in Lassen Volcano National park. The base station ID was 47295365.
I realize this may be outside of the knowledge base of this community but figured it was worth a try.
Thanks in advance.
