    I had my R12i, S7 & TSC5 delivered today. I need to set up the feature codes and layers, I was pointed towards FDM which I understood to be a standalone utility which would allow me to create my own feature code library. I've installed the programme but every time I open it it just throws an error message. 

    If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great, doesn't seem possible to create layers in the feature code library editor in Access itself, so I need to get it working..

    This is the mumbo jumbo the error dialogue box throws up. I've reinstalled several times, always the same. Surely I don't need TBC to run FDM? Installation Manager went on and opens fine.

    I can't remember to be honest! I gave up and do it all through TBC instead now.

    Sorry, that's not much help! You may find that running the update manager will fix it if it's just a bug, that resolved my other export issue in Access.

    You will also need the coordinate system manager downloaded to use the stand-alone FDM.

    Looking at what was in the error text, I would run the Trimble Office Cleanup Utility and under the Advanced tab uninstall Feature Definition Manager and Coordinate system Manager.  Once uninstalled, you can download and reinstall the latest versions.

    Feature Definition Manager: http://dl.trimble.com/osg/survey/fdm/2.30/x64/fdm_setup.exe

    Hey Simon,

    Worked with Trimble and they provided a solution that solved the issue for me. See below:

    Delete the following file: toolbar.layout

    C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Trimble\Feature Definition Manager\{TBC Version}\toolbar.layout

    After deleting the .layout folder my FDM opened up and performed great!
