    Hi all,

I need to perform mapping activities in an area without SBAS coverage or internet access. I previously relied on the TDC600, achieving approximately 2m standalone, uncorrected accuracy, which is sufficient for my needs. However, I need to buy some new collectors, and since the TDC600 is no longer available, I'm considering the TDC6.

Both devices appear to use the same internal GNSS receiver (u-Blox Neo-M8T), so I would expect similar standalone 2m accuracy with the TDC6. Can anyone confirm this?

Thank you in advance for your support!

    Best,

    Francesco Arnaudo

    Hi Francesco,

The TDC6 does not have a u-Blox receiver built in, and is specified as being capable of 2-4m GNSS accuracy. If you need more reliable GNSS performance you could look at the Trimble Catalyst DA2. With a Trimble Catalyst subscription you can choose whichever accuracy is best for your needs, with various correction sources available including Trimble RTX via satellite. You can see coverage maps here.

    Hi Mark,

    thank you for your feedback!

According to the TDC6 user guide (https://hardwarehelp.trimble.com/PDFs/TDC6-UserGde-RevB.pdf, Chapter 6), the device does mount a uBlox Neo-M8T GNSS receiver - same as TDC600. Is this an error on Trimble's side?

Also, thank you for suggesting the DA2 + Catalyst subscription! I'm actually considering this solution as well, as it seems both significantly cheaper and more accurate.

    Thanks,

    Francesco

    Hi Francesco,

Yes that is an error in the user guide, I'll pass that on to the correct person for addressing, thank you.
    Best regards,

    Mark
