Trimble Catalyst DA2 Loss of Satellites

I'm using a DA2 together with the TDC600 for daily field capture in Caribbean. We have a yearly subscription I believe. It may be more. 60% of the time, everything works fine for connectivity with satellites from 21 to 30 of them. However, there are days with total clear skies, not a single satellite would be available. This might happen for 2 days, then the next day everything goes back to normal. During the down time, if the TDC600 is switched to the DA1(integrated) all the satellites get connected instantly, which means it has to be a DA2 issue.

Is there an issue with the servers on your end? is there a way to verify online if the DA2 should have full connectivity?

There are times when the DA2 accuracy is needed and after travelling a long distance for data capture, the DA2 fails to connect to satellites.

    Please help

    Hi Dalton

Satellites orbit 24/7 365 so we wouldn't expect any downtime

I'd suggest you submit a support case in to your local Trimble reseller and get them to look into this in more detail.

They can check its using the latest firmware and any other configuration and field app settings for you

With the DA2, ANY strange behaviour I'd recommend

    • Closing the app you're using it with (TMM/Terraflex/Fieldmaps etc)
    • Resetting the DA2 by holding the power button down for 10 seconds
    • Clearing the BT pairings
    • Powering on the DA2 and repairing again in your BT settings
    • Connect in your app and test again

Seems like a lot of steps but this takes less than a minute once you are used to it

    Hello Tom

I tested your theory out today and it actually worked. So, the DA2 just needed to be reset. Don't think I saw this on the manual though in terms of a DA2 reset. If it's there I probably missed it. Ultimately, all satellites are now available which makes me able to breathe a sigh of relief. Thank you so very much for the support. I must say this community deserves high praise and I would recommend any Trimble user to join. Thank again.

I have done the reset process when it seems that it is taking an unusually long period of time to reach the expected subscription accuracy under ideal conditions. It appears to help if you have that issue as well.
