What is the ‘Device Name’ in WorksManager? How is it significant? ‘Device Name’ is the name of the device as defined in the machine control box/ data collector. A device identifies the data to be synced from TCC only based on its name. So, it is important that the same name is given, when a device is added to WorksManager/ TCC.
Also, note that WorksManager auto-renames an Earthworks or a Siteworks device if the device is sending a different name from the field than the one it is registered with, initially in WM. Again, this works for GCS machine (CB4x0) only if it is configured to send tag files, and this will never work for a legacy data collector (TSC3, TSC2 that runs SCS900)
