Abstract

Today, photogrammetry is everywhere. Often, people to not even realize that they are using photogrammetry in their daily life. The density of information in imagery is influencing our daily life using embedded imaging sensors, mobile phones, unmanned aerial systems. The applications are a manifold. Requirements on quality and geometric or geodetic accuracy range from a very low level to extremely precise. While consumer UAS or mobile phone imagery is widely used to create “nice looking” image mosaics, more professional imaging hardware is used to provide a higher level of confidence and accuracy. Today more and more industries are leveraging the benefit of image information to revolutionize their traditional workflows. This, however, means that photogrammetric techniques have to be managed by a group of users that is new to this technology – its workflows, its requirements and challenges as well as its opportunities. This technical session shall illustrate on the example of UAS imagery workflows, what the typical workflows look like. What needs to be considered from project planning and through the complete process. What quality of deliverables may be expected with what type of hardware or what configuration and project layout. Why or why not do I need ground control, what is the benefit of GNSS and IMU. The latest developments in software as well as hardware shall make photogrammetry available to any user with any level of expertise. Behind each new feature there is a once complex task that is now easily manageable. With this presentation the audience gets some background about aerial photogrammetry and how user specific workflows may be optimized to meet quality requirements with a maximum of automation and performance.
learn about the latest developments for UAS processing in our software offering and how users benefit from those new developments
learn how UAS processing can be optimized to obtain high quality results that lead to greater success, better ROI and optimized revenue.
