In this Trimble Business Center Power Hour, Alan Sharp will discuss the TBC Create Vertical Design tool with Pat L’Heureux from Severino Trucking Co. Inc., a mid sized road construction and site development contractor in New Hampshire. Pat has significant experience in using the Create Vertical Design tool for site modeling applications and we will together explore where the tool should / should not be used, and where the advantages can be gained in using it.
Attendees will learn:
- How to increase productivity in the 3D modeling for field operations (Machine Control and Site Positioning / Surveying) applications
- How to adjust 3D models dynamically in line with design changes or to refine designs for constructability purposes
- Tips and Tricks on how to use the Create Vertical Design tool on complex site or highway models
- How to create composite models by integrating model components created using separate processes including Corridors, Side Slopes, Vertical Designs and other general data prep processes.

Partner / Marketing Director at Rockpile Solutions LLCI graduated from Nottingham University with a BSc in Geology followed by an MSc in Engineering Surveying. On graduating I joined Geotronics the manufacturers of Geodimeter Total Stations (now a Trimble Company). I held roles in Europe with Geotronics and later Spectra Physics / Spectra Precision in Sales, Sales Management and acted as the Managing Director for Spectra Precison at the merger of Geotronics and Spectra Physics Laserplane. Later I headed up the European efforts with the Terramodel software on the acquisition of Plus 3 Software and included the pioneering of the 3D Machine Control business with the BladePro 3D system which was based on the Terramodel ToolPak engine. In 2000 when Spectra Precision was acquired by Trimble, I was asked to move to the US to assist in the integration of the two companies. After 2 years of working in the Geospatial Business I was asked to help develop the rapidly growing Machine Control Business through the establishment of the Site Positioning portfolio and the formation of the new Heavy Highway Division. More recently I have worked on the CEC Software business, developing construction focused software and developing the global market. In 2020 I decided to start my own business with two partners, Peter Kistler (an ex TBC Software Developer) and Bill Quintrell (Developed the TCC Platform for Trimble and assisted in many software projects including the Beijing New Airport). The new company - Rockpile Solutions LLC based in Colorado is focused on three main areas and has been Authorized by Trimble to be a Trimble Consulting Partner and Trimble Development Partner as well as Certified Trainers for the Trimble Business Center and related software products. Our focus areas are 1) TML and Software Extensions for the TBC Software Platform 2) High End Support, Trimble Community Forum Management, Training (including PUG and RUG events) and Consulting Services. 3) Software Development for the Civil Construction Industry It has been quite the ride so far and I love working with Sales, Dealers and Customers on projects in this arena - it is truly a fascinating business.
