Add Measure Codes functionality from Access, to TBC

Discussion created by Ross McAtamney on May 23, 2019

We have been dealing with point clouds a lot recently, both terrestrial and aerial, and once concern we are constantly hitting is the lengthy process it currently takes to extract relevant information from point clouds, such as points and linework. While there is extended functionality coming to automatically extract linework from point clouds in TBC, there is still a significant need to look at improving other tools to compliment this functionality to better assist users.

Users are happy to mimic field practices when extracting data out of a point cloud, by creating CAD points and attach feature codes and stringing parameters, then use the process feature codes to create strings and put in symbols. The problem is this is currently a cumbersome task, as every time they create a CAD point the need to:
- put in the code (and string)
- select a coordinate field
- select the point in the point cloud
- select add
...then repeat.

- Process feature codes

It would be good to be able to add a tool in the Point Cloud tab in TBC, like the Measure Codes functionality in Access, to speed up this process. Users should be able to create and save feature codes against buttons and store them as libraries such as (road, field, building, rail, drain, etc) to be called upon again at other times. Then when it comes to creating points in TBC from a point cloud, they would select this tool and then their desired library to load the definitions, then:
- Select the code to be used
- Select the point
...repeat.
- Process feature codes

While it could be done with a macro, this functionality would be much better handled as a core TBC element.
