Does someone has a feature by feature comparison between Trimble Terraflex and ESRI Collector for ArcGIS software for data collectors, specially the TDC100?
If you use your MGIS Partners log in we have a Know your competitor section that summarises the main competitive solutions to Terraflex, including ESRI Collector.
You should supplement this with the most up to date information found on the ESRI Collector web page against the Terraflex page respectively.
Both solutions will run on the Trimble TDC 100 using the integrated GNSS chipset and support high accuracy* workflows with the external Trimble R1 and R2 receivers, including the RTX correction service*.
* Collector v10.4 and later - note the Windows 10 version does not support RTX currently
Collector requires the use of ArcGIS Online. For ESRI customers who do not wish to use this or do not have a subscription to this service, Terraflex has a free ArcMAP Plugin to allow you to work directly within ArcMAP. You can download and review the user guide here
Thanks Tom excellent response on this Terraflex vs ESRI Collector features comparison badly needed on the TDC100 device
I dont understand why TDC100 doesnt supports with its own GNSS differential corrections from CORS via NTRIP (DGPS NMEA GGA or better) to get ±20cm accuracy?
Nor why the GNSS chipset of the TDC100 doesnt support directly FieldPoint RTX via cell phone or satellite to get ±20cm accuracy positioning?
A big issue adopting TERRAFLEX is its lack of support for datum such as ITRF2014, geoids (EGM2008) and grids systems such as UTM Mapping & GIS Product Comparison A mapping software that doesnt support projection or grid coordinates makes no sense, any improvements soon in this area?
The TDC100 is an entry level, handheld data collector replacing (and upgrading) the Juno 3. If you want improved accuracy and support for NTRIP and RTX corrections on the TDC 100 then you can pair it with the R1/R2 external GNSS receivers or you can look at some of the other solutions we have such as the GeoExplorer 7 series
As for Terraflex, coordinate system support is very high on the list for future inclusion, it's definitely something we want to add so we appreciate your feedback. For now we operate in and export out to WGS84 lat, lon, hae, which is easily transformed using the processing tools in your native GIS or Survey software package.
Thanks Tom I forgot the spanish language support enhancement request for Terraflex, which would allow users from 22 countries access to it.
Terraflex has supported Spanish (Latin american) since June 2015.
It also supports German, French and of course, English.
All this information can be found on the Terraflex Web Page under the Technical specifications and also in the Release Notes section
Thanks Tom for your response. I was referring to Insphere Terraflex cloud service which doesnt support spanish language if I not mistaken?
Yes you can change the locale in the cloud service by editing the organisation settings
Thanks Tom would never have guessed ... why not named "Language"? LOL
I know of this comparison chart posted by an MGIS Dealer here in North America
Thanks Gale very valuable comparison chart indeed on these GIS software. Hopefully Trimble matches and superseeds ESRI offers with TERRAFLEX soon
Our great group of colleagues at Frontier Precision just did a super webinar comparing TerraFlex and Collector workflows yesterday.
It will likely post to their Tech Webinars by the end of the week.
Here is a link to the webinar that we did. Mapping GIS on Consumer Devices Comparing Collector and TerraFlex Workflows - YouTube
Thanks Mel very informative indeed great!!
