I was wondering if it was possible to create a link to a view/ToDo and share that with an external user. The external user would need to be able to access the "view" without the need for a Trimble Account.
Thanks for bringing this up. The need for View to be shared with someone - not having a Trimble Connect account is pretty evident. We will look into this and get back.
Can you please give us more details on the need for ToDo to be shared as a link. It will be good for us to understand the use case , so that we can consider it.
I have been looking at the use of Trimble Connect to capture the installation process of elements on our project. We currently use a digitised form for our quality records along with a manual workflow to say what ha been installed. By capturing the data in TC and then being able to share a link, maybe via a ToDo we can issue the "installed elements" as a a todo via a web link on our digital quality record. This can then be inspected by a quality inspector in the field, just by clicking on the link.
Thanks for the insights. We will consider this and come up with something that would work best .
In addition about the subject sharing views outside members of the project, I think this is indeed handy. But you need to consider if a view is adjustable by anyone like they are now. It should contain the option that a view can be locked, so they cannot change a shared view afterwards. And also important: it should contain a sort of versionmanagement. So you can see when and what is changed in the view, by whom and which version of documents the original view is made.
True Bryan, bringing in the ability to share inherently raises the question of permissions. We will assess this and get back on what could work best for our users.
Don't hesitate and feel free to ask for our opinion in this matter. If you have any questions or need input, we're glad to help and share our vision. Like we always try ;-)
In this instance of proposed workflow we would only require an outside users to have read only access. Anyone that would require input would be a stakeholder and therefore member of the project, in my opinion.
Sure. Noted Bryan / Paul. Once we have this item prioritized and we have done an initial round of assessment, we will come back with our proposal and have relevant discussions.
