Trimble Connect Server not Available

Client using the desktop application keeps getting the notification that the server is not available.  When they sign out and sign back in it works or if enter into a project online it logs them in, but if they just open the desktop app even though they have elected to stay signed in it will give them the message that the connection to the server is not available and does not log them on.  Is there a setting we are missing for this?
