Can we implement additional 3d model file format to Trimble Connect Desktop?
Could you elaborate? Are you talking about your own proprietary file format, or a standard or 3rd-party commercial format we don't yet support?
We are just about to make available the SDK to read and write the TrimBIM format which Trimble Connect uses for visualization, so there are some options for us to explore with you.
It was the idea in my mind to make my own 3d file format so I decided to ask It is not my priority but I decided to ask.
I have idea.
Few days ago I tried to mesh my pointcloud. Output format was obj. I had to convert it to dxf which is not good format.
I think the trimble connect should support mesh formats like obj, stl, 3ds
(or more formats from GitHub - assimp/assimp: The official Open-Asset-Import-Library Repository. Loads 40+ 3D file formats into one unified an… )
Also Trimble connect should handle big meshes like game engines handles that (my mesh had 100k vertexes and TC was hanging).
