Hi Mark
Understood.
It's poor functionality though, for a professional app. Hopefully a way can be found to fix it.
Thanks
Rob

Hi Rob,
No there isn't, the On-Demand claim starts as soon as the claim happens, I understand that will be an issue if you are some way away from the job site.
Regards,
Mark.

Hi Mark
Apologies, late reply. Is there a way of claiming on demand time in advance without starting a session, which obviously I wouldn't want to do in advance.

Hi Rob,
Apologies for the delay. I think in your case it's the claim of the license that's the issue, rather than the signed in state of TMM. If you think that you will be going into an area where coverage is spotty it might be worth claiming enough On-Demand time up front.

Mark.

Useful to know. It would be great if this could be put onto a more "modern" footing, though....
Thinking of a workaround, if I try to keep TMM open on my phone, or at least have it open and signed in if I think I'll be using on demand in a poor signal area, this should prevent the problem?

Hi Rob,
Catalyst licenses are managed through License Manager, so in order to allow access to On Demand TMM needs to connect to the cloud to see if the signed in user has access to a pool and if that pool has any outstanding On Demand hours available. Also, Catalyst pools can be shared with multiple users so TMM needs to check what time is available each time a user wants to claim, and there is currently no way to cache On Demand for completely offline use.
Regards,
Mark.

Thanks Mark
Maybe, but if so, I'm surprised this is the first time I've been caught out in this way.
More to the point, the app really ought to know whether I have On demand and what my balance is, without having to go online every time. Could TMM be configured that way?

Hi Rob,
Based on your explanation I believe Catalyst On Demand is working as expected. In order to start an On Demand session an Internet connection is required, once a session is started the device can go offline and the session will continue. It sounds like when you had a poor Internet signal Trimble Mobile Manager wasn't able to contact the licensing server and therefore couldn't present you with the On Demand pools you are a member of. The Internet connection must have worked to a degree when TMM last checked for a connection.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any concerns with the above and, if I'm missing something, with some more details on your expected behaviour.
Best Regards,

I'm using a DA2 with Mobile Manager and TerraFlex.
A couple of days ago I was unable to access my On demand Catalyst 1cm service. There was an internet signal, relatively poor - refreshing showed only my Catalyst 60cm annual licence. I had signed into TMM and used the on demand service 7 days earlier and would expect the usual warning that I can work offline for 29 days only.
I just tested it now with a good signal. Licenses in TMM shows my On demand allowance. In airplane mode it still shows my On demand. Closing and reopening while offline, only my Catalyst 60cm shows. I've repeated this test a couple of times. I've not encountered this before, in 6 months usage.
What's going on please? Has something changed and can it be fixed?
