I would have them check the Android Camera app settings and see if you can enable the location and compass watermark on the photos. I am not sure that it can do that, as I don't have my 650 on me. There are also several free apps that can do this but I am not sure if ESRI Field Maps can choose to use those apps versus the camera app built into the Android OS.

What software is your customer using? I know that the default Android camera app can do some basic watermarking including location and perhaps the heading/bearing. The issue would be the accuracy of that position and bearing.
