Unable to connect Bluetooth to DA2 after firmware update

  • 1.  Unable to connect Bluetooth to DA2 after firmware update

    Field staff upgraded the firmware on one of our Catalyst DA2s on Friday and were unable to connect to it in Bluetooth through iOS afterward. The issue persists today (Monday). Holding down the power button for 10 seconds does not do anything (I'm told it doesn't do a quick flash or anything to indicate it was reset). We have tried multiple iOS devices, power on/off cycles, etc.

    Is it possible to connect DA2 to a computer with a cable to reinstall firmware or troubleshoot? Any other suggestions?

    Hi @Robert Switala

    I didn't get any feedback from Jaime with the final troubleshooting steps we went through (offline) but that unit was most likely replaced

    It's extremely rare to encounter HW failures with the DA2 in general, but especially on an update so follow the steps below which should get the DA2 connected again 

    1. On your device clear the DA2 from the respective BT menu
    2. Reset the DA2 by holding the power button for 15 seconds
    3. Power on the DA2 (give it 15 seconds to boot up)
    4. On your device BT menu search for the DA2 and pair again
    5. Open your app to connect and use

    If this doesn't resolve things, reach out to your local Trimble reseller with the log files and an explanation of what's happened and they'll help

    I would use the Trimble Mobile Manager app for any troubleshooting. This provides us with detailed logging and a known platform to base performance from

    I recently had a new Juniper Archer 4 that would not connect to my DA2 by Bluetooth.  I tried all Tom listed on my own. I called Duncan Parnell Support staff, and they had me turn off the Wifi Scanning feature on the Archer 4. Once I done that, I was able to connect the two devices again by Bluetooth. This was just 10 days ago, and all of our units are still connecting fine. I found the other Archer 4 units we have already had that feature turned off.
