Hello TBC’ers! Did you know you can override the max segment length of your line strings in the properties pane? In places where you need more detail, you can quickly add more detail quickly by adjusting the max segment length in the Properties. This is especially useful in places with curves, specifically curves with a sharp elevation change or truly whenever you need to densify your surface and add triangles for additional detail. In this workflow, we will be adding detail to this surface:
To begin this workflow, open your TBC project containing all of your surface layers and follow these steps:

Select the break line line string at the bottom or top of the slope you want to add detail to. Right click in a graphic view or the Project Explorer to open the properties pane.

Change the “Override segment length:” setting from No to Yes.

The “Max segment length:” property will now appear. To add more detail, adjust the “Max segment length:” property to your specifications. In this example, I have adjusted it to 1ft to significantly increase the detail of this slope on the current surface.

Repeat this process for the other break line on your slope. When you enable and adjust the “Max segment length:” property for both of the bordering break lines on your slope, TBC will update with a more detailed surface model for this area.
Using the Segment Length Override property is a powerful way to ensure your surfaces are detailed and precise. By controlling the maximum segment length, you can enhance the quality of your models, leading to better project outcomes.
