Tip #157 - Display Alternate Distance Unit

By Hannah Poon posted 09-03-2021 08:42

Hey TBC’ers! Have you ever wanted to display an alternate distance unit in a project to easily convert units? For instance, the units for your project are set to US Survey Foot but you are more familiar with using Meters and want to see this unit conversion displayed.

Follow the steps below to learn how to display an alternate unit to make unit conversion easier.

  • Drag and drop your VCE file from File Explorer into the Plan View or open it by selecting File > Open.

  • In the Quick Access Toolbar, click Project Settings. If not already selected and displayed in the Project Settings window, click Units > Distance

  • Scroll down to Alternate and click in the Display field. A dropdown menu will appear.

  • Select the units you wish to display as an alternate. Here, I selected Meter.

  • Now, you are able to see the project setting unit (e.g., US Survey Foot) along with the alternate distance unit (e.g., Meter) when performing calculations!

A great live demonstration of this can be found in this Power Hour on TBC Cadastral Workflows starting at 14:17: https://register.gotowebinar.com/recording/4662915956027344904
