Tip #162 - Change Project Settings (Transparency of Imported PDFs and Point Color)

By Hannah Poon posted 11-04-2021 13:27

Hey TBC’ers! Have you ever wanted to change the transparency of a background image (e.g., an imported PDF) and change the point color to better view your data? For instance, you have an imported PDF of a survey plat that you have already georeferenced, scaled, and rotated to match with your Point layer in TBC, and want to be able to view the points easier.

Follow the steps below to learn how to change these project settings.

  • In the Project Explorer, right click your imported PDF under Imported Files and select Properties to open the background image Properties pane.

  • Click in the field to the right of Transparency (%).

  • Type “50” and press enter to change the transparency of the background map to 50%.

  • Next, change the point color so that points are easier to see in the Plan View. In the CAD tab of the TBC Ribbon, select Layer Manager to open the Layer Manager window.

  • Select “White” in the Layer Color field corresponding to the "Points" layer to open the drop-down list of additional colors. Choose any color of your liking. Here, we will choose “Magenta”.

  • Select Close to close the Layer Manager.

  • All of the points are now Magenta and easier to view over top of the background image.
