General Questions

What power banks fit into the handle?

The battery cavity inside the Catalyst handle fits any cylindrical battery (power bank) like the ANKER PowerCore mini+ Power Bank (3350mAH) or even the larger ANKER PowerCore 5000 Power Bank (5000 mAH), up to 3.2 mm (1.3 inches) in diameter.

Does the magnetic mounting system affect the device's compass?

Not significantly. The steel plate closes the magnetic field lines when attached. If you rely on highly accurate compass orientation you should recalibrate when changing from landscape to portrait and vice versa. Refer to your device’s manual for compass calibration once mounted on the handle.

What screw thread is supported at the handle?

The handle has an integrated 1/4-20 UNC screw thread (photo). An adapter to 5/8-11 UNC (survey accessory standard thread) is available as a commodity accessory.

Can I use the handle only with DA2?

The handle also works with the DA1. For the DA1 the battery door has a hole to feed through the cable to the device for power supply and USB data transfer. The length of the data/power cable can be stowed away in the battery cavity.

Note: The DA2 does not require the cable for data transfer.

Is the metal plate available as a replacement part?

Yes.

How to assemble the handle system and how to attach the metal plate to my device?

Is the handle rugged?

The handle does not have a specified IP or drop rating, but the magnetic interface, and push-fit mechanism for the antenna help to protect the solution when dropped. Use the supplied lanyard to reduce the risk of dropping the handle in field use.  The handle does not degrade the environmental specifications of the DA2, phone, or battery.
