Tip of the Week #65 - An Alternative to OPUS in TBC

Welcome back to another Tip of the Week! Amid the US government shutdown, you may be missing your OPUS post-processing corrections from the NGS. Fortunately for your static GNSS data, Trimble is not shut down and can supply another correction service, CenterPoint RTX Point Positioning. The best part? CenterPoint RTX-PP is available directly through TBC!

 

This feature is licensed in TBC Advanced and higher in v5.0.

 

Before getting into the how-to, I'll give a little introduction to RTX-PP within TBC. First and most notable: If your receiver is capable of tracking more constellations than just GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo, (like BeiDou or QZSS), then RTX-PP will already get you one step ahead of OPUS. RTX-PP supports observations up to 24 hours in length, with a recommended length of at least 60 minutes.

 

There are three ways to post process static data using RTX-PP in TBC: 

1. Send to RTX-PP on import.

 

2. From the Project Explorer. Right click on the imported observation file, and click Send to RTX-PP.

 

3. From the Survey ribbon. Survey > GNSS > Send to RTX-PP.

 

If you want to submit the files directly to CenterPoint RTX-PP, that can be done from the website www.trimblertx.com.

Matt does TBC can be set up to get the RTX post processing report data automatically including XYZ coordinates and its residuals (not having to do it manually)??

Hi Matt   I am downloading RINEX files from NetR9 CORS recevier in UNAVCO COCOnet data archives but the resulting RINEX files can no be uploaded to RTX online post processing.       https://www.unavco.org/data/gps-gnss/data-access-methods/dai2/app/dai2.html#4Char=CN05;grouping=COCONet;scope=Station;sampleRate=normal;4CharMod=startsWith;groupingMod=contains

I want to download this update to my system as PDF but can't seem to find the option. Will I need to save the webpage as HTML and then use a converter later such as https://www.coolutils.com/TotalHTMLConverter  ?

Hi Jeff,

 

Thank you for the insight! I agree it is available, however it is the words "This site will not be updated;..." that worries me personally, and inspired this tip to share information about the Trimble service. While I've got your attention, if you come across something seemingly little known you find useful in TBC, please send me a message and I would be happy to credit you with a Tip of the Week!

Hey Matt, I just wanted to drop a note here that OPUS is no longer offline due to this 2018-19 shutdown.  It was only offline for the first few days and now is online but with a warning banner at the top indicating the non-funded status of DoC/NOAA/NOS/NGS (along with many other Federal sites).  I have no idea what was involved in the decision, but take a look for oneself and see OPUS is indeed available.

I will add that users will not be able to finalize an OPUS Shared Solution during the shutdown, as a human review by NGS personnel is conducted before a solution can be Shared.
