Tip #197 Optimize your workflows with TBC Filter Manager

By Vyom Kaushik posted 02-21-2023 13:36

Hello TBC’ers! A while back, we did a tip on View Filter Manager Shortcuts showing how to reduce the amount of scrolling required to find a layer and quickly isolate desired layer(s). Today, we will go over a few more neat View Filter Manager hacks, such as the Zoom extents icon, filtering the view with the View Only This option, and the Isolate Layer icon.

Follow the steps below to learn about some of the additional features the View Filter Manager has to offer.

  • Click the Zoom extents icon on the top toolbar of the View Filter Manager to enter the zoom extents when the filter changes mode.
  • Filter the view by right-clicking the name of any layer and selecting View Only This from the context menu. All of the other check boxes in the group are automatically unchecked so that only the selected layer is visible.

  • Another way to turn individual layers on or off to better understand what data is on each layer is to isolate layers. Click the Isolate Layer icon on the toolbar.

  • Click the checkbox next to the names of various layers to see the data that resides on them in the view. Only objects on the selected layer are visible. Review each layer to see how your project data is organized.

Note: When in Isolate Layer mode, you may find it faster to use the up and down arrow keys to move through the layer list. You can also press [Spacebar] to check/uncheck the box for any layer.

  • All checked layers will be visible in the view filter when you exit the Isolate mode via the isolate layer button!

Congratulations! You have successfully learned how to isolate layers using the filter manager to quickly toggle on/off data layers during your workflows.
