Plugin installation / versions Trimble Connect and Tekla

Hi,

With the various updates and versions we use of Tekla and Connect (and Sketchup in some cases), the various Plugins are also installed. Different versions of the plugins are created when installed in an updated version. As far as I've been able to judge, these plugins will all be in the same directory from the different installations (C:\Program Files\Trimble Solutions\ImportSDK). In order to keep our network 'clean', we would like to know if it could have a detrimental effect if the old versions of plugins are removed? Does a new version of a plugin from Trimble Connect work for Tekla, for example, or is Tekla dependent on an 'older' version of the plugin?

Kind regards,

Hi @Stefan Kauffeld

The plugins for Tekla Structures and for Connect are installed to different folders. Also, Structures plugins and Connect plugins are handled differently. Connect uses plugin installers, while structures plugins are part of the Structures deployment. You would not be able to replace structures plugins with connect plugins...
So "Does a new version of a plugin from Trimble Connect work for Tekla, for example," - No
" is Tekla dependent on an 'older' version of the plugin?" - Tekla Structures has it's own deployment mechanism for it's import plugins unrelated to the Connect import plugins. Connect plugins installations do not affect Tekla Structures import capabilities in any way.

Tekla Directory: C:\Program Files\Tekla Structures\2020.0\nt\bin\referenceplugins

In general the application installers will remove old version of the plugins - so there shouldn't be a need for you to remove any manually.
