Why not automatically replace the old model in a view?

  • 1.  Why not automatically replace the old model in a view?

Hi Trimble Connect, Is it true that when I produce a view, TC remembers only the specific model you made a view from? Even after uploading a newer version model with the same name? Does the newer model replace not the old model in the view? And when it doesn't, is there any reason why not?

    Hello Bryan,

Thanks for posting. We are in fact actively thinking of designs for this. Views created today points to specific version as a system of record. Views are used for multiple use cases as bookmarks into models, coordination view, for highlighting issues and more.... We are looking to in to designs to be able to show both the version the view was created in and the latest version the view can refer to. Feel free to share your thoughts on this. Options include:

    1. Show version view was created in by default (Current behavior)
    2. Show latest version of files with view by default
    3. Option to show both specific version or latest version for comparison specifically useful in highlighting issues (with #1 or #2 being default)

    Regards,

    Karthik

    Hello Karthik,

    Thanks for your reply...

I think that the workflow should be, that when you click on a view you first get the possibility to choose (only after checking if there is a new version):

           #1. the latest version

#2. the version in which was created the view

Than we let the users choose and do not choose for them !!

    Regards,

    Bryan
