Power bank for TDC150

    We work in hot weather here in Middle East. TDC150 battery does not come up to the mark. The battery cannot be charged outside of the unit. The only solution is using a power bank. Can you suggest any good brands / models which can keep TDC150 charged for a workday? Something that is powerful as well as compact to carry around in pocket or inside the TDC150 carry bag.

    Connecting the TDC150 to a power bank means it will be charging which will generate more heat. You may be better off to keep a few spare charged batteries ready for use rather than plugging into a power bank. Keep the spare batteries out of the sun and heat as much as possible.

    There is a Chinese external battery charger on ebay for a TDC100 battery which is priced very low. The TDC100 is very similar to the TDC150. I think the charging amperage is on the low side for the TDC150 batteries but the voltage is the same. I think it will take longer than normal to charge the TDC150 batteries but it should still work. Since the price is low we bought one. We have not tried it yet. There is a link to the charger below. The ebay item number is 401430524059. Searching for 'battery charger trimble tdc100' should also bring it up.

    Good point about the charging the battery and heating the unit but maybe there's an alternative which doesn't cost as much as spare batteries for TDC100 / TDC150.  I don't have much experience with TDC100 / TDC150 so I'm not sure if it will work the way I expect.

    If you plug the TDC into a power bank when the TDC battery is already full (i.e. start your working day with full battery and power bank plugged in), then I would expect the TDC to use the power bank rather than the internal battery​​, and since the battery is already full you don't have the heat penalty from charging batteries.  Does that sound reasonable?

    Hi Yashwant

    You can submit a support request (to the MGIS team) for an additional battery if you provide a summary of this issue in the case and the serial number of the the TDC150 for us to verify.
    This will provide the customer with two batteries to use throughout the day to hopefully cover their working hours.
    If you have any other customers with this issue then add their TDC150 serials too
