Trimble Connect User Forum

We have about 20 survey crews. We currently use TCC to send them calcs and to receive their survey data. We use TCC Explorer on an office computer to sync to the "cloud," which in turn is sync'd with the controllers using AccessSync.

Our needs are quite straightforward—real-time two-way synchronization of files between the office and multiple survey crews. TCC does this reasonably well.

Question: Is Trimble Connect a viable replacement for TCC for this purpose? I'd like to find out if it can automatically and continuously sync files every few minutes the way TCC Explorer does. The shortest interval on the scheduling screen seems to be one hour, which is far too long for our needs.

I don't have detail knowledge of the Sync, but I can offer one solution from Trimble Connect:

Trimble Connect Desktop synchronizes the data very fast. You can have upload the files using Trimble Connect Web or Desktop. Then the survey crews would use Trimble Connect Desktop to access the data. In the Explorer the new files will show up and user needs to download them first. After that they can be opened by double clicking the file. The file will be opened using the default software for that type of file.

So far for us, we are "testing" the Trimble Connect and have found it to work equally as good as TCC.  AccessSync on the controller is setup virtually the same (different method to login) but after that very very similar.  Office side is a little more different with the webportal, but thus far the end results are the same.

As it stands, Trimble Connect Sync is going to be the new face of what would now be TCC Explorer and is considered to be the new real-time syncing desktop workflow for Trimble Access customers. The settings in Trimble Connect Sync you are referring to do show Manual, Hourly, Daily and Weekly. However, if you select the Hourly option, there is another drop-down that shows up. This drop-down should allow a sync to be scheduled every 15 minutes, much closer to the current TCC Explorer workflow.

Please let us know if this setting does not meet your team's expectations, having been used to the TCC Explorer workflow.
