Uploading comments via a standalone file

  • 1.  Uploading comments via a standalone file

A common workflow is for comments to be added to a downloaded PDF. It is good practice to add this to the comments section of the relevant drawing as opposed to uploading a separate file.

Is there a way to add a file to a comment on a drawing or model?

    Hello Stephen,

Thank you for asking question on our community portal. For now, there is no option to add files directly to the comment section of a drawing or 3D model, but you can insert link that points to a file in the comment section for any version of file.

Should you need any further clarification, please send an email to connect-support@trimble.com.

    Best regards,

    Raghav

    Thanks Raghav,

The problem with uploading the comments as a separate drawing is that when you search for a drawing, several versions of the same drawing will appear and cause confusion over which is the latest drawing.

There will also be situations where multiple comments are received from different parties, potentially leading to multiple copies of the same drawings, with no explanation or confirmation as to which one to work from.

    Hello Stephen,

Thank you for providing the details about this use case. You are correct! the use case that you have described shows that there will be some confusion with searching files with multiple version uploaded by different parties.

We will discuss this enhancement case with our product development team, and we'll update you about any improvements that are possible to resolve this confusion.

    Best regards,

    Raghav
