Hi,

I have seen a video on youtube where 2D .dwg drawings were uploaded to the job and placed using the assembly main part coordinate system.

Does anyone know how to batch export 2D drawings and have them automatically place themselves over the assemblies in the TC model?

This would be great to do, any ideas?

I agree, it would be great, I have seen it done but not sure how it was done...

Seems these boards are seldom read by anyone who knows the product

If you are using TeklaStructures to produce your DWG then all you have to do is:

1. set the following in line a role or firm initialisation file - set XS_DWG_EXPORT_3D_MODEL_COORDINATES=TRUE
2. highlight the drawings you want to export in the drawing list
3. choose to export them
4. make sure you choose model coordinates in the export dialogue
5. also export your model with model coordinates to IFC

When you view the model and drawings together they will be overlaid.

If you plan to use this feature in the Hololens I would also export each assembly into its own IFC.

Hi Steven,

Trimble Connect is not uploading drawings right now for some reason. I tried this in bimsight which got close but was not a direct overlay. Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks.

What version of Tekla Structures are you using. I am on 2018i.
