dwg models not visible in Desktop app

Hello, I'm trying out Connect with some sample drawings of my own.

Upload works, I can view files on web page. But on desktop they show as not visible (Eye symbol crossed over).

What else do I need to view dwg on Desktop app?

    / Kjell

What happens when you click show model (enabled the eye symbol)?

Nothing happens. The eye symbol remains crossed over.

    Hi Kjell,

If the model is not in red, but in gray, then the problem is not with import plugins, at least not the same as in the other post I linked.

Could you invite me to that project? marko.myllymaa (at) trimble.com

I suppose it’s the plugins then:

    Hi Kjell,

Yes, it seems that you have issues in import plugin installations. I could open the models without problems.

Please open regedit.exe and check following path:

    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Tekla Corporation\Model Sharing Foundation\plugins

Check the plugins listed there. There should be each plugin listed only once. If there are multiple versions of the same plugin, then you have the issue and following the next steps will fix that.

    - Uninstall Trimble Connect Desktop (And Tekla BIMsight if you have that)

    - Uninstall all plugins, check "Programs and Features" or "Add or Remove Programs", and plugins start either "Trimble Solutions ImportSDK" or "Tekla Model Sharing Foundation"  Uninstall all of them one by one.

    - In Windows Explorer clear these folders:

      C:\Program Files\Trimble Solutions\ImportSDK

      C:\Program Files (x86)\Tekla\Model Sharing Foundation

-In regedit.exe, remove all remaining import plugins listed here:

      Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Tekla Corporation\Model Sharing Foundation\plugins

Now you should have cleared you computer, now you can install Trimble Connect Desktop.

Note! If you need to use Tekla BIMsight also, that needs to be installed first.

Both software is using same import plugins. Trimble Connect Desktop has newer versions, so it should be installed last.

    Hopefully this helps.

    Best regards,

      Marko Myllymaa

    Hi Kjell,

Issue could in the installation of import plugins. Do you have or have had also Tekla BIMsight installed on your machine?

If so, please check my instructions on this post: Trimble Connect 1.6 ei näytä ifc malleja

(Ignore the fact that the post starts in Finnish.)

    Best regards,
