Hi everyone. I am a quite new user of TC. The situation i am facing is that pipe models (3d solids) made in AC3D 2018 are not displayed in TC. Instead in the model selection area they appear with red letters. Does anyone can help?

Here you find the steps to the solution:
1. uninstalling Trimble Connect Desktop
2. uninstall Tekla BIMsight if installed.
3. uninstall all plugins, they will start either with the name "Trimble Solutions Import SDK" or "Tekla Model Sharing Foundation".
Run the Microsoft tool (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed), fix any errors it can find in plugins, especially when removing plugins.
This process only serves to ensure that the uninstall process worked properly. If none of the above mentioned entries are found here, the uninstall has worked cleanly before.
Also make sure that there are no plugins of the old version in HKEY.
To do this, follow the WIN+R > REGEDIT settings.

and then go to
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Tekla Corporation\Model Sharing Foundation\Plugins

Download the installer again from the Trimble Connect Web site and download Tekla BIMsight if desired.
6. empty the file in the folder C:\Users\<user>\.TrimbleConnect\.files.
     emty also this folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Tekla\Model Sharing Foundation
7. install Tekla BIMsight first, then Trimble Connect Desktop.
8. re-download the IFC models

Installing Tekla BIMsight is not a must. But if you want it, install it before you install Trimble Connect Desktop!

Yes, that's what I was also thinking, but I was asking Ioannis to contact me to be sure that it's this case.

To verify, check with regedit.exe that path (Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Tekla Corporation\Model Sharing Foundation\plugins)

If you see duplicate plugins, then this you should run all those steps to clear everything.

Thanks for your replies.

Although my question was posted almost one month ago it was approved at 26 of September

During this time we checked the problem with our offices's 3d modelling specialist here in Finland and we found out the the problem was BIMsight (as Andreas said).

This malfunction had such a big impact that it was impossible to work with CIVIL3D 2016, CIVIL 3D 2018 and TC at the same time without computer restart.

However  Bimsight uninstalled and problem solved.

I'm glad to hear that you have solved the issue.

Problems with Tekla BIMsight installation are:

a) If it's installed after Trimble Connect Desktop, then the plugins will be downgraded to those coming with BIMsight.

b) If BIMsight or TCD is installed (or upgraded) by multiple user accounts, that would leave multiple plugins to computer. And that would show just like Andreas's screen shot of regedit, multiple plugin versions mentioned in registry path, where should be just one version of each plugin. And following those steps that Andreas wrote, will fix the issues. But, he forgot to mention that on number 6 you should also delete all files from this folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Tekla\Model Sharing Foundation

It's not a big issue leaving them there, but it's nice to clear those from taking disc space.
