Trimble Penmap/ Catalyst Issues Australia

  • 1.  Trimble Penmap/ Catalyst Issues Australia

    Posted 11-14-2021 22:07
We have numerous Trimble Penmap apps and DA1 Antennas in use across Australia. In the last two weeks we have no connection service multiple times and over extended periods. Is anyone else experieincing similar issues.

We use centimeter accuracy on demand hours. When accessing the GNSS network through Penmap it will struggle to get a accuracy below 0.2m - 0.3m. This is on the same locations two weeks previous we have accurate lock immediately.
The service will also jump from numerous to zero satellites.
The number of satellites icon changes to blue. We have no idea what this means.
Diagnostic log files have been sent via the Penmap application but Trimble bounces them back and requests you to contact your supplier. Not much point having the function if you are sending files back.
I have contacted our Supplier and they are in communication with Trimble, however they seem to expereince the same service that we experienced, very little

Extremely frustrating for our Techs in the field and our Customers.

    Dear TAP Admin Maxam,

We apologize for any inconvenience. We are sorry, but we have no further information about such connection problems.
Is there a specific workflow when the connection bounces back to zero satellites?
We will revisit the issue with the Catalyst/Support team.

If the icon turns blue, you are still receiving correction data, but not the best you could have. Since version 11.3.0.2050 the oval shows if the received GNSS data matches the set correction service.
    • e.g. NTRIP is set in the correction data
      • received correction is NTRIP the GNSS oval is green
      • received correction is SBAS/RTX the GNSS oval is blue
      • no correction data received the GNSS oval is red
    • Using Catalyst with Trimble correction Hub (TCH) it's much easier to know which correction type is coming in
      • received correction is NTRIP the GNSS oval is green
      • received correction is SBAS/RTX the GNSS oval is blue
      • no correction data received the GNSS oval is red
We look at all incoming diagnostic files to improve Penmap.
By default, we send a request to contact your local dealer in case of problems.

    Kind regards
    Penmap Team
