How to archive a complete set of data in Trimble Connect?

  • 1.  How to archive a complete set of data in Trimble Connect?

    Hello to all
I have a question about data archivization.
Is it possible to simply archive data from Trimble Connect? By archiving, I mean saving all data from the system (not just files).
Is it possible to set up an offline platform so that archived projects can be read i the future?

Hi there, archiving data is not yet available on Trimble Connect. Its on our roadmap though. We will keep the forum posted, when it makes into the product.

How soon will this option be implemented?

    Hi Cornell,

Archiving from Connect hasn't been prioritized yet - atleast until end of this year. Hence, there are no updates yet.

We did consider this during our discussions, but given our product priorities, it hasn't made to top of our list yet.

    Hi Darshan,

That's disappointing to hear. There is almost a way to do it now by downloading .bcf files of ToDo's. However, there is an issue - the Views associated with those ToDo's do not get carried with it (all markups, colours, etc. are lost). If this could be fixed, this would at least be an option for "archiving" views and ToDos. Perhaps this fix is something you can prioritize to be addressed?

    Thanks,

    Corneil

When will this be an option? This is a basic need for any company.

We have the same question. Maybe an option is to give a project a status.

    Hi,

We acknowledge this is a great and much needed feature. But the quantum of changes needed are huge.

We will channel our efforts towards the same in near future, but don't want to give a false commitment yet.

Marking the project status may not be sufficient. We will need to actually have the data stored somewhere so that it can be retrieved.

We will keep you posted on the updates once it is taken up for design consideration.

    Regards

    Hi Darshan,

    First, thanks for your answer.

Maybe it's an option to build in several steps first, which we can use right now. Those are maybe easier than what you describe here above. Those steps can be:
    1. Projectstatus (project metadata) - preferaby self-adjustable names - or maybe simpler at first 'active' or 'not-active'
People don't see the 'not-active' projects in their project overview
    2. Possibility to delete more than one person at a time from the project. (In the future account portal possible?)
We have projects which contains over a 100 users who we now have to delete one by one if the project is ready.

Those two steps help already and then the the third step: the need to store the data somewhere so that it can be retrieved, can be developed parallel.

    Regards,
    Bryan Bosch

Having an archive feature would be really useful! Currently I am utilizing the API to remove all users from the project, except for an admin account, then downloading the data to our own storage from this TC project for archiving purposes. If at anytime this project needs to be accessed again users are added. I like having all projects kept in the cloud, but it bogs down everybody's projects screen, so I just have them removed from the project.

    Hi guys!
We are looking for archive option for TC also. It was one of the best option in Bimsight. Most of our clients don't accept cloud solution and we have to send the single file.
Second reasone. We make lot of project and after ending, we cannot archiving project. It would be greate to archive project (with history, file coordinates, view etc.) from TC into one file and save in local disc.
