    Hi,

Is there an option to save current projects and store them locally?

(like this was possible in Tekla Bimsight)

    Kind regards

    Martijn Gielkens

The same question came from our IT-departement, is there a possibility to save the completed project as a package and  store it locally in an archive?

    Regards,

    Yves

You can use the Trimble Connect Sync Tool to keep local offline copies of your projects.

Ray, Thanks for your reply but that is not what i mean, in TeklaBimsight You could save the complete project as 1 package for archiving...

    Regards,

    Yves.

Agree with you, a Save as e.g: project_name.tbp (compressed format containing modles and notes), useful for archiving.

Thanks Alexander, hopefully someone from the development-team picks this up

OK, then what do you do with the .tbp file? Why is that better for you than making a .zip archive of the Sync folder?

We're interested to understand the archiving use cases better, before considering to just copy an old functionality from BimSight.

    Thanks.

    Hi Ray,

Generally our company does not (want to) use the cloud functionality. For this to work, the way you describe, we would have to use this feature. First upload in the cloud, then sync and download everything, just to be able to make a copy for archiving? Why not enabeling the local copy (already stored on the harddrive) to be giving a name. #localcopy

With a save as .tbp file, Tekla BIMsight allows to compress the whole, to save views, notes and especially to keep the position of the models if they have been moved manually.
This is faster than uploading files in the cloud and compressing them. Another advantage is that it instils the tbp file holder to use Tekla BIMsight or Trimble Connect.

The zip-archive doesn't keep the views, comments, objects linked to documents...

For me it doesn't have to be a .tbp- file, but the idea is similar.

And it's important that it can be opened in future versions of TC.

    Hello Ray,

Do you understand the purpose of what we are trying to achieve?

And is it something that could be considered for development?

    Thanks,

    Yves

    Hi guys!
We are looking for archive option for TC also. It was one of the best option in Bimsight. Most of our clients don't accept cloud solution and we have to send the single file.
Second reasone. We make lot of project and after ending, we cannot archiving project. It would be greate to archive project (with history, file coordinates, view etc.) from TC into one file and save in local disc.

    ##localcopy

    Hello everybody, Ray,

I saw this discussion and wanted to react also...
We are looking like Karol mentioned also a way to archive our project digitally in the cloud.
Yves/ Martijn are more referring to download the data to a machine. Also nice to have.

If you can archive a project it would be nice to arrange also in a simple way the Team (delete the accounts from the project) and still have the activities from those deleted users visible in 'Actvity' with their name, so that the history is saved in a project.

We now have to delete the users one by one. And in a big project with many users this is a lot of work. I know that Trimble is working on an accountportal and it would be nice that this can be controlled by powerusers in our companies in this portal.

if you need more information, don't hesitate to ask me.
