    Hello,
    Must Pathfinder Office be installed if the Terrasync tools are required in latest version of TerraOffice.

    I saw a reference to this in support documentation.  I'm guessing this is to access some of the side bar utilities.

    Hey Joel! No sir. You can install the TerraSync tools if you want them for TerraSync+TerraOffice workflows. You do not need pathfinder office installed.

    Hi Zach,
    So this text at the link you provided, under optional components state, in Bold. " You must also have some version of GPS Pathfinder Office installed on your computer."

    We prefer not to install PFO, hence the question.   So, this is incorrect?

    I can double check but I am pretty sure that this is not the case. I know that we have some customers that fully uninstalled PFO before installing Positions or TerraOffice and loaded the TerraSync tools. I will confirm with Matt M.

    If the text on this page then, https://forms.trimble.com/globalTRLTAB.asp?Nav=Collection-132759 needs to be clarified, please pass this onto Matt and team.   I have so many installs running up here, mostly all with Positions (precursor to TerraOffice), some with PFO, others not, so this is something that needs to be clarified, and the install page updated with proper instructions.

    Joel,

    Pathfinder Office is no longer supported or sold and therefore not a requirement for any Trimble TerraOffice functionality. TerraOffice is also the replacement to Trimble Positions. TerraOffice currently only supports ArcMap and not ArcGIS Pro. You can reach out to me if you have any further questions.

    Great back and forth that I wish I had chimed in on earlier. Here's the official answer:

    An install of PFO (doesn't have to be licensed...only installed) is only necessary if you want to run these Trimble Positions TerraSync tools from the Trimble TerraSync toolbar in ArcMap - TerraSync Configuration Manager, TerraSync SSF Record Editor, TerraSync Data Dictionary Editor, TerraSync Data Transfer, and TerraSync Studio. There is no requirement to have PFO installed to perform check-outs and check-ins with the TerraSync workflow. That holds true for both Trimble Positions and Terra Office add-ins for ArcMap - both of which support TerraSync workflows and include the optional installer for these tools. Although it was our intent to distribute everything necessary to run these tools with the separate installer, it was too difficult to unwind the dependencies on the older coordinate system components that we no longer use or include in Trimble Positions and Terra Office.

    Maybe pass on to Team.  PFO is not a requirement for some workflows, but an install is required for the tools mentioned above.   Growing impedence to anything PFO in the federal government, and because DOI can't use TerraFlex, nor any part of the Trimble cloud we have 0.01 % of Trimble we can use to Post Process anymore.
