GIS Week Number Rollover / Pivot Date Issue affecting legacy GIS GNSS systems

  • 1.  GIS Week Number Rollover / Pivot Date Issue affecting legacy GIS GNSS systems

This Support Note has been published to explain why the GPS clock has been reset to 2004 on legacy products such as the GeoExplorer 2008 & 3000 series and ProXH/XT.

These GNSS systems are now no longer useable, and we recommend customers reach out to their local reseller for advice on options to replace them.  See the Support note for more details.

    Thanks for the information
It is true that at the beginning of September the SBAS correction  stopped working

Sir, I am still using this device PROXH, The latest firmware released for these units was v2.07 is there a solution for that?

    Thanks

    Hi Sofiane,

There isn't a FW option to resolve the ProXH GPS Clock date reset. However, there's a couple of posts in this thread about how you might be able to continue working with the legacy systems with TerraSync: GIS data collection workarounds

By the way - the issue is not that SBAS has stopped working (it works fine), but instead that the clock date is reset on GNSS systems that has a Firmware reference date greater than 19.7 years, and the Software will throw errors when it sees file/system times don't match the GNSS receiver.

Facing the ProXH GPS Clock date reset glitch without an FW fix. However, discovered a potential workaround using TerraSync for legacy system compatibility, discussed in this thread. Interestingly, SBAS isn't the problem, rather the date reset due to Firmware reference. Seeking solutions for time mismatches causing software errors.

    Hello Brendon,

What is the prognosis for Geo7X reference date?

It's an truly excellent last of line for legacy workflow we would not want to see cut short.

    Thanks

    Hi John,

The Geo7x GNSS system is much newer than the Geo 2008/3000 series, and as such has newer GNSS Firmware (which was therefore able to be built with a more recent Reference date). With the latest GNSS Firmware the Geo7x systems aren't expected to have issues with WNRO and clock resets until the mid-2030's.

The Geo7x should keep meeting your needs for a long period yet, or at least until you choose to update to newer technologies.

Thanks for sharing that Brendon, it's good to hear and very reassuring.

Some of us are retired community volunteers and having to personally upgrade the complete ecosystem would be a show stopper.

My cm version & Zephyr 2 spend most of their time off-track in rugged bush, performance continues to be impressive and they are robust & reliable.

    Cheers

Thank you, Brendon, for the reassuring insight! For retired community volunteers like us, the prospect of a complete ecosystem upgrade could be challenging. It's heartening to know that the CM version and Zephyr 2 excel in rugged bush conditions, remaining both robust and reliable. Cheers to dependable performance! Gb Whatsapp Download
