How do I make a copy of a file so that I don't have to start from scratch on a new project?

    Hi,

Currently, there is no option to make a copy of the file in Trimble Connect.

For any further queries, please send an email to connect-support@trimble.com

Unfortunately, there is no option to copy or duplicate a file in Trimble Connect.  I usually download the file I want to duplicate, rename it, then upload the renamed file back into Trimble Connect.  It's a hassle, but much faster than starting a new file from scratch.

Is this feature ever going to be available? I get the request daily as more and more users join Trimble Connect.

    Hi Ricci,

Thanks for sharing inputs. There are no plans (yet)  to introduce this in Trimble Connect.

    Hi Ricci,

Just curious, what kind of data would you want to copy inside a project? Once copied, doesn't that make room for errors?

One use case where copying files would be very handy is, when you have an DWG file with several views/frames and you want to split those views/frames to one DWG file each. If you had 4 views in the source file, you could just copy it four times, open each copy in the CAD editor, delete the frames you don't need and save the file.

I think for that Save as in DWG editor  would work easily

    There a more examples.
In my case we have weekly reports in Word. We use the first one as 'template' en we copy it every week.

For now I we have to download, edit en upload it. I would be fine to copy and paste it in Trimble.

@Tero Laine: Sounds promising, but unfortunately the "saveas" command has no effect in the Trimble Connect CAD editor.
