I have Trimble M3 D5 , some time my machine says ' over speed' and can't take measurements. How can fix this problem? What is the reason for this problem?

    Gretings, Former Service Technician here,

     

    I used to repair these instruments.  the OVERSPEED error is a quick way for the instrument to tell you that the bar code on one of the internal glass circles cant be read properly.  There are three causes for this:

     

    Instrument turning too quickly

    Instrument cracked, and light getting inside of the area that is required to be dark in order for the encoder to be read properly

    Dirty encoder glass

     

    Id recommend finding a local Trimble/Nikon Service Center and taking the unit in for service.  It's easy to resolve with the right equipment.

    hello sir i have a 5503 total station, i did not use it for a month, then it stop connecting to acu, i suspect the internal battery gone flat and the firmware maybe lost, i tried to go to service center but they say they stop servicing this unit a long long time ago. by the way im from qatar, anyboby maybe have copy of the firmware fo this instrument?
