I believe this was tried and didn't work - but does that mean the device can't make calls at all, or that we can't make calls due to the absence of 3G?
Given that we were notified by Telstra about the issue, specific to the device, I suspect that our three units will become expensive equipment of limited use in about two months.

Have you tried inserting a voice-capable SIM then making a voice call? I can't try this because the NZ cellular networks have not turned 3G off yet!
Most Trimble devices (TDC6, T7, TSC7, etc.) are non-voice and non-voice devices are not required to have emergency calling.
