    This thread posted earlier in the Mapping and GIS Community Forum exactly one year ago.

    Reposting here. Many of us have contacted our dealers to raise this issue, and was brought up at Dimensions and we still need a way to select in an Access Survey style for Fast Static a way to click "ignore IMU data" on an R12i.  

    Neil replied in the other cross posting a solution.
    ...If a .T04 is necessary (as the only solution in Access), then it seems reasonable to me that Access should be able to switch to WiFi for data transfer similar to a SX10/12 (alleviating the incredibly slow transfer of a bloated T04 file over Bluetooth), or maybe allow for Rinex direct download given the receiver software has the ability to convert.  

    Could Trimble look into trimming the IMU "fat" from a file on an R12i Fast Static File in Access, to allow for more expedient process on a traditional static observation.

    Thanks for the opportunity to enhance the R12i as a static base receiver.

    Excellent video.  I did not know that the cadence change of the download light on the R12i panel that indicates all files are downloaded.  This is by far the best approach for speed, with the exception of the WEBGUI approach that pulls down a T02 file.   

    I'm still going to keep this ENHANCEMENT alive - it would be prudent to offer a T02 option, which for a Static solution, say a 8 or 10 hour occupation means a 10x size difference.  Why the WebGUI can do this, and not Access seems simple.

    But again, great video.

    I replied too soon.  In this case, using an R12i (your video was for an R12 without the IMU), the file transfer never concluded (waited over 15 minutes).  The file was valid, only 2:15 minutes in duration and took over 4 minutes to transfer via bluetooth.

    This approach appears not to work with a static file (T04 format) on an R12i.

    Interesting.... Thanks for the heads up.  I don't have an R12i currently, but I'll have to give it a try when I have an opportunity.  I will say that Trimble's R12i documentation would suggest this is do-able:

     

    Obviously you've seen this work for the R12 (it's on video), but guess I'll need to be cautious about suggesting for R12i until I can be confident it either works or doesn't!

    Thanks Greg.

    I've posted this cross thread in the Access community, hoping someone could verify your R12 method works for the R12i?.  I spent most of today sleuthing this swapping out thumb drives, formatting in the two versions of format.  Using latest R12i Firmware.  I do have to confess i'm using a GPS re-radiator inside the building for simulation, the only real difference from a test outside under a "real sky", but that shouldn't be an issue either.

    Hi Joel:

     

    Good talking to you.  I've attached the R12i Customer FAQ's I mentioned.  There's some pretty good information in this regarding IMU compensation, e-Bubble, and characteristics of using different measure methods with the R12i (e.g. Topo Point versus Observed Control Point).

     

    I don't know your settings currently, but perhaps you'll see something here that will help to optimize your procedure.

    Joel,

    I just tried this with a R12i that I collected static files with yesterday with no issues. You can reach out to me if you have any questions. I would just use the WebUI over Wifi which allows you to convert to Rinex 2.11 on the fly since you are only sending these to OPUS which only excepts GPS and GLONASS.

    I cannot get the video that is here, https://drive.google.com/file/d/13_nV9HtGtlfsNnYubKfXLQR8cb636re4/view?usp=share_link to work.   The fast flash remains fast flashing for 15 minutes, and I bail.  This was for a 2 hour file.  I'll do another repeat, but I'm using a Fast Static, GPS only, 30 second logging interval on a new, R12i receiver, latest firmware.

    I still want to remain tied to an Access workflow in many cases (say I'm doing an RTK and logging) with a HERE for a traditional RTK session.  Were dragging around HUGE T04 files and its simply not tenable.

    Joel,

    My name is Andrew and I'm the PM for the R12i.

    We've been aware of the T04 file bloat issue for some time and we have a fix for it in the upcoming 5.60/6.20 firmware release, which will be out before the end of the month. Users who have beta tested the firmware report no issues with large files or multiple files for a single data logging session.

    In the meantime, you also have the ability to select the T02 file type if initiating static data logging from the web UI (which I appreciate isn't everyone's preferred workflow). 

    Feel free to shoot me a DM if you would like me to provide you with a beta firmware build to test.
