Retrieving a draft form

  • 1.  Retrieving a draft form

    Posted 03-25-2023 17:29

I somehow got into a TDC600 configuration where I couldn't end the data collection session. Best I could do was "Save as draft". So I did. I can see the lines of the form on the handheld, but don't know how to restore the Form. So now how do I retrieve that  draft so I can Sync it to my project?

    Thanks,

    MK

    Hi Michael

Sounds like there might have been a field in your template that had the Required Field option enabled. Fields with this option must have a value entered before they can be saved and synchronized, you can identify them in the form by the * beside the field name. They might also have red bars on the side of the field to indicate they are in an error state:

If you have a form like this then when you attempt to save the app will only let you save it as a Draft:
You can find Draft forms in the Form tab on the home screen. You can open and edit the form, fill in the required field and then save:
Try that and let me know if you are still having issues
    Thanks

    Dear Hamish,

Good to hear from you. Thanks for replying.

I don't see any fields that require user input. Here is an image of the fields from Trimble Connect:

Also I don't see any messages on the handheld, such as the ones you show.

Don't know what I did wrong but I'll try again with another project.

    Many thanks for your reply.

    Cheers,

    Michael

P.S. Are you in New Zealand?

    Dear Hamish,

Yes, I think you are correct. That's what I did. I put in the field asking for a date and didn't notice that I had required it.

Thanks for that. The trick is not to ask for fields  that require user input – or if you do, to supply the value as you collect the data. We'll warn the students about that!

New question: I set up a project with a template to collect point data; I collect a point with the TCD 600; I sync the point back to the project and see the point on the map. How do I see the coordinates of the point in the coordinate system I set up for the project (e.g., UTM)? Can I also see the coorrdinates in another system (e.g., Lat, Lon)?

    Many thanks,

    Cheers,

    Michael

    Hi Michael

You can use the XYZ Autofields option to see the coordinates of the points captured - take a look at the blog article here for more detail
In the form template editor If you open up any of your existing templates for editing, you can add the XYZ option which stores and displays the X (Longitude or Easting), Y (Latitude or Northing), and Z (Height) of the captured point form
