We have been using status sharing on the Everton Stadium Project to mark up progress in a digital environment. Previous to this hard copies would have been produced and coloured up and distributed for progress records. Moving to a digital environment has made this progress capture process far more efficient. Site teams at all levels are actively involved in monitoring progress and using the API we are able to extract the status of each construction element and obtain clear information on the progress of the project. Due the web based platform this information can be accessed from anywhere and therefore allows remote working and still able to understand latest progress.

The status sharing tool could be improved and can suggest the following additional features.

• Custom status names
• Function to allow incorrect status to be deleted
• Remove bugs that incorrectly colour random model elements
• Current status added to data table to allow csv export

I would welcome a meeting with Trimble to discuss the status sharing tool further could allow wider use across Laing O'Rourke.

Hello,

I agree with Paul, Status Sharing is a good tool which could become great with some improvments.
For my part I would also suggest:

• Allow admins to manage user permissions on editing/viewing status using TC groups
• Embed Status sharing for TC within TC Desktop so people won't have to open a separate program

At BIM Hanoi we use status sharing tool to record concrete pouring and land fill. It is very good tool for progress tracking and report.

Hi Paul. 

I am curious of how you are using the API? I have not foundt it possible to update status via the Trimble connect app so where you registering object statuses in an external source that wrote to Trimble connect status through the API?
