TCC End of life concerns

  • 1.  TCC End of life concerns

I opened WorksManager this morning and got the message below.

The only reason I'm still using TCC is to move work orders between tablets. Adding this feature to WorksManager has been requested on this forum many times.

Is there a timeline for this?

    Hello Jason

The upcoming WorksManager release on May 22 introduces folder-level operations. This update enables the moving and copying of work orders across data collectors, providing a direct alternative to legacy TCC workflows.

Please provide feedback by the end of that week if you find the new solution is not performing effectively or efficiently.

The WorksManager file explorer currently supports move and copy functions, enabling the transfer of work orders across various data collectors. However, the upload and download folders are not yet available.

Thank you, Venkatesh. I missed this feature getting added to WorksManager.

One question - when I scroll down the list of tablets, I still see older tablets from TCC showing up that aren't in my WorksManager account. I'll go through and delete them from TCC shortly.

My question is, once TCC is turned off, will those old tablets disappear, or will they stay in the list forever?

How will we delete or archive Siteworks work orders to clean up our data collectors without TCC? Will there be an update in Worksmanager or TBC to delete/archive workorders, its currently greyed out in Worksmanager.

Hello Daniel, There is currently no direct functionality to archive work orders from WorksManager (unlike archiving designs or projects); however, as a workaround, you can use the WorksManager File Explorer to achieve this.
    1. Select the data collector device and navigate to work orders.
    2. Select the work orders you want to archive.
    3. Move them to an arbitrary 'Archived' folder outside the regular folder structure (for instance, Home > Vijay Siteworks > Archived > Trimble Building Phase II > Workorders')
This way, the work orders will remain safe in the cloud (in the 'Archived' folder) while being removed from the data collector in the field on the next sync (since Siteworks cannot read from the 'Archived' folder)

Is there a way to copy the data from the Archived folder to a Google Drive folder? We currently archive everything to Google Drive so that if someone deletes the archived, it's still living somewhere else. We absolutely need a way to archive workorders nicely that live connected with the WM project. That way if we ever need to go back years, down the road, we know exactly where to look - right in the WM project. It's also very handy for archiving workorders on the monthly for very long projects that have multiple workorders per day.

    Vijay,

This would be much easier to deal with if we had the ability to DELETE FOLDERS THAT CONTAINED DATA.  Your team seems to be more worried about "Protecting us from ourselves" than giving us full file level access, let us be the judge of what we need to archive and save, including populated folder level delete...... you've ALMOST got it with what you've implemented so far, except for a few items.... or does the "Platform" not allow those type of file removals?

As mentioned in another post, we have to VERIFY a device delete by verifying the SN of the device before we delete it, could your team implement a step like that for Populated Folder Level Delete?

Delton, yes, we heard you, and we are working now on the enhancement to allow 'deletion of folders with contents' as well. We intend to first release this soon to accounts/users who request it as a priority, and eventually to all. Thanks for all the feedback.
