    Hello,

Kindly throw some light on whether Trimble Business Centre will work on ARM Based processors. Earlier I was working with TBC on my Intel Macbook Pro via Windows on Parallels. Now, I have upgraded my MAC to the latest M3 Processors and TBC doesn't seem to install on the windows that run on this laptop now. Please help!

I don't think you're going to find much help on this. I'm sure the number of Mac users running on Parallels is very very small.

    Hi Adam,

I agree. But thought there would good enough users running TBC on a new computer with ARM Processors like the Surface Pro or similar.

Okay guys! After weeks of persistently trying various methods, I finally got it to install on my Mac M3 and it works perfectly.

So if you try to install TBC with the regular install wizard, it doesn't install. What I did was I unpacked the TBC install file using 7zip. Once you unzip the install file, you get all the associated softwares individually in separate folders. From there I installed only TBC software as standalone. Installs perfectly without any errors. Once installed, I opened TBC and clicked on check for updates, from there I installed all the other associated softwares like coordinate manager, convert to rinex etc.

If somebody is not able to get through with it, let me know, I will post a detailed step by step procedure.

    Hi !

So this is the setup file. irrespective of the version. This setup file will have to be unpacked.

Download the 7zip unpacker from their website. link: 7-Zip

Once you install the 7zip software. Unpack the install file using 7zip. You can right click on the install file and select 7zip and then select extract here. It will take about 5 to 10 mins to unpack the install file. shown below

After 7zip has finished unpacking the setup file. You will be to see all the folders for install. Go to the TBC folder as shown below.

Inside the TBC folder, use the setup file to install the software. As shown below

Follow the install instructions and install TBC.

After TBC has been installed. Open TBC and click on support tab in the menu ribbon bar on top. Then click on check for updates. shown below

Once you click Check for updates, you will the updates dialogue box. From that select which ever supporting software you need and install it by following the onscreen update box. You can install the necessary softwares like Coordinate system manager, Feature definition manager, Convert to Rinex utility etc.

Hope it is helpful. Let me know if you come across any hurdles.

    Hi Tim,

TBC working fine without any problem. I am using TBC only for GNSS Data processing and working with RTK data though, which is working fine. Don't know about other modules. I guess it must work fine too.

    Hi Adinath,

I purchased a Mac M1 Max in 2022 and since than trying to install TBC on it. I had Parallels installed, but I have stopped paying for it, so I can't try your installation technics.

What I'm curious about is, can you use TBC with a Thale USB dongle for the licence? I thought the main reason of the program not installing in the first place was that Thale didn't come out with a HASP driver for ARM windows, therefore the licence dongle cannot be read.

I would love finally be able to use my Mac for work. I'm reaching the point where I migh tjust sell the MAC as it's no point having 2 laptops...

    Thanks

Did you figure out the solution for the Dongle? I am running into the same issue.

Hi I'd be curious, would the Thales licence dongle work on ARM Windows. My TBC licence is on a dongle and I've tried using it about 2 years ago to run TBC, however apparently Thales haven't publish a HASP driver for ARM Windows, so I couldn't use TBC on my Mac.

    Thanks

TBC has yet to support AMD/Radeon officially. ARM is another leap!

I too am struggling to find a solution to this. Have you tried using a program like CrossOver? I wonder if that might work?

Hi, Tried with CrossOver as well, same result, doesn't work. Guess the only option is for Trimble to start supporting ARM processors.

I actually went out and bought an M3 Pro to test this out for myself and came to the same conclusion.  However, through a trail of Parallels I was able to get TBC to load and work.  It did have an error message at some point during the install but it did install and I was able to work on a file.  I do not believe this to be highly reliable route and I soon returned the Mac but just putting it out there that I was able to run TBC through Parallels.

    @Cody Allmon Whoa!

It would be great if you could share some details which will be of great help!

    1. What is the version of TBC you installed?
    2. What is the error you got and how did you proceed with installation inspite of an error?
    3. What is the version of windows you used? Windows 10 or Windows 11 ?

I basically installed the latest versions of Parallels, MacOS, Windows 11, and when I installed TBC I installed it as vanilla as I could.  Everything was unchecked in the additional software options screen.  I did this just to save time as I was just curious as to if it would even run.

I do not specifically remember the error, but I just clicked "Ok" to keep the install going.

Unfortunately, I know longer have access to a MacBook to repeat the process, but I am keeping an eye on this integration in hopes of moving back to Mac down the road.

Let me know if you have any luck or if you encounter any errors.  If I get a wild hair and some free time, I may purchase one again to see if I can replicate the install.

    Best of luck!

From the program's technical notes brochure dated October 2022

Quad-core Intel 2.80 GHz or better recommended (additional
cores with hyper-threading support highly recommended)
    • AMD Ryzen processors are not supported
