I believe that offline support in Trimble Connect Web is something that should have been available from the very beginning. Especially for those of us working in the construction industry.
Yes, I know the Desktop version supports offline usage, but relying solely on it isn't an ideal solution. The desktop client is heavier, carries a higher risk of version mismatches, and doesn't always have feature parity with the Web version. If you're not constantly updating it, you risk working with outdated data. That's a serious issue in live project environments.
Trimble Connect Web, on the other hand, is streamlined, always up to date, and preferred for collaboration. But the lack of offline functionality limits its use on remote job sites, where stable internet is never guaranteed. This is exactly the kind of scenario where offline mode is critical and not just a nice-to-have.
Additionally, offline access + positioning/GPS would make a huge difference in civil.
So I really have to ask:
Why hasn't Trimble developed this yet? Is there a technical limitation or strategic reason behind it?
