Use dxf/dwg linework as custom background map

Is it possible to only import lines when adding CAD/Shapefile data to penmap projects? Every vertex in every line seems to get turned into a "point", which makes the point list very difficult to navigate.
I would like to use CAD drawings as a background map as they are often more detailed than what the background mapping can provide, for example showing individual MH covers.
When I turn off the layers that have come through from the shapefile/CAD drawing, the points stay visible. Having those points to snap to could be useful, but I would like to be able to turn them off in the map view, so they are not getting confused with real survey data.
    Any insight/help much appreciated.

    Kindest regards,
    Sarah

    Hello Sarah,

Thanks for your feedback. Penmap is point based, therefore all the points from the import are needed.
I understand that it makes navigating in the pointlist messy. The only thing I can imagine right now is to sort the pointlist.
Just click e.g. to Name"and it will start with the numbered points.

In the map it's possible to hide the nodes via Display | Show points in map.

I recommend to work with iFeatures for the survey points, so that you can have a quick look where they are.

    Hope this helps.
    Kind regards
    Conny
